The speaker, Blagojevich gives a speech trying to hid the fact he was bribing his seat to other people and he was speaking in a position as a senator of Illonois. His argument was that he didn't bribe his seat and he would never intend to do anything malvolent such as this. This speech is given to catch the ears of the citizens of Illonois and other political figures at Illonois. He also mentioned about other allusive figures that did evil in the past. His speech is filled with a variety of propaganda techniques, but most of it is red herring, he uses small minor details to draw attention away from the real point.

Blagojevich attempts to obtain sympathy from the audience by speaking about all the benevolent thoughts and things he has done for the people. First, Blagojevich states, " and even more important then my daughters, the people of Illinois"(Blagojevich 1). His statement depicts how he values the people more then his daughter which is a thought expressing love for the people. Throughout this speech he reinterated about the people, and speaks about them being important. Also he says, "I want to thank you for giving me a chance to be here." (Blagojevich 2) This statement depicts the respect Blagojevich gives to the people. Respect is a sign of being benevolent and such as so, hes respects to be respected. So basically his red herring of the speech is respect and being benevolent.

I don't believe Blagojevich has good ethos because it seemed to be he has already lied already. It's depicted through exaggerated things such as expressing his love for the people and a comparison between his daughter and the people of Illionois. He also used propaganda techniques and people who use propaganda techniques are mostly hiding stuff important to the people. He used Red Herring to cover the fact that he was bribing his seat to other people during the election. I can express that even if he is telling the truth, he still doesn't not persuade me to believe that he is innocent.
